    Chevron Corp.'s Indonesian subsidiary let several front-end engineering and design contracts for developing the Gendalo-Gehem deepwater gas fields in the Makassar Strait, off East Kalimantan.
  • 12/02/2010 -- McMoRan to test, deepen Blackbeard East well
    McMoRan Exploration Co., New Orleans, is making plans to test the 178 net ft of hydrocarbon-bearing sands encountered so far in the Blackbeard East well on the Gulf of Mexico shelf off Louisiana and has applied to deepen the well to 31,500 ft.
  • 12/02/2010 -- DOI ponders ways to regulate fracing on public lands
    The US Department of the Interior is considering whether existing regulations need to be expanded or new rules need to be developed for hydraulic fracturing and other natural gas exploration and production activities on public lands, DOI officials said at a Nov. 30 forum at DOI’s headquarters.
  • 12/01/2010 -- Salazar puts Atlantic, eastern gulf off-limits for next 5 years
    Emphasizing that the administration of US President Barack Obama remains committed to developing federal offshore oil and gas resources, Interior Sec. Ken Salazar said on Dec. 1 that Atlantic Ocean and eastern Gulf of Mexico areas will be excluded from the 2012-17 Outer Continental Shelf 5-year leasing program.
  • 12/01/2010 -- GAO report sees flaws in DOI tracking of gas venting, flaring
    The US government is losing income from oil and natural gas leases because the Department of the Interior does not accurately track losses from natural gas venting and flaring, the Government Accountability Office said in a report it released on Nov. 29.
