  • 12/01/2010 -- Texas leads North Dakota in 2009 oil reserves hike
    Texas’ Permian basin topped North Dakota’s Bakken play as contributors to a 9% increase in US crude oil and condensate reserves in 2009 as shale plays drove gas reserves to the highest since 1971.
  • 12/16/2010 -- East Kalimantan find exceeds 1.4 tcf of gas
    Three wells drilled off Indonesia’s East Kalimantan confirm more than 1.4 tcf of gas in place in Jangkrik field on the Muara Bakau permit, said operator Eni SPA.
  • 12/15/2010 -- Quebec: Junex cores gassy Utica intervals
    Junex, Quebec City, Que., encountered numerous gas-saturated intervals in Ordovician Utica shale in the Villeroy-1 exploration well, first well on the 108,360-acre Lyster block of permits in the St. Lawrence Lowlands of Quebec.

    Enhanced Oil Resources Inc., Houston, plans to test three appraisal wells it has drilled in St. Johns helium and carbon dioxide field in Apache County, Ariz.
  • 11/16/2010 -- Newfield to buy in Marcellus, defer gulf drilling
    Newfield Exploration Co. will buy Marcellus shale development assets in Bradford County, Pa., from EOG Resources Inc. for $405 million.
  • 11/23/2010 -- North Dakota
    Hess Corp., New York, will buy 167,000 net acres in the Bakken oil play in North Dakota from TRZ Energy LLC for $1.05 billion cash.
  • 11/15/2010 -- West Virginia
    Antero Resources LLC, private Denver independent, has 127,000 net acres in the Appalachian basin Marcellus shale play and three rigs drilling in northern West Virginia.
  • 11/11/2010 -- France
    Hess Corp. let a contract to KCA Deutag to drill six wells targeting the Liassic shale oil source rock system in the Paris basin in France.
  • 11/10/2010 -- Texas-South
    Swift Energy Co., Houston, set a preliminary 2011 capital budget of $430-450 million that includes an accelerated drilling program to increase production and reserves, mainly on the company’s liquids-rich acreage in the Eagle Ford shale and the Olmos sands in South Texas.
  • 11/08/2010 -- West Virginia
    Gastar Exploration Ltd., Houston, has spud its first operated horizontal Marcellus shale test, Wengerd-1, in Marshall County, WV.
