HOUSTON, Dec. 9
– A unit of Total SA, Paris, made a multizone oil discovery at the Owowo South B-1 well in OPL 223 off Nigeria.

Logs and other data indicate the well found several reservoirs containing light oil, said 18% interest owner Nexen Inc., Calgary. The well, 20 km northeast of Usan field, went to TD 2,227 m in 670 m of water.

Total E&P Nigeria Ltd., meanwhile, expects to complete fabrication of the FPSO hull and most of the topsides in 2010 for Usan field in OML 138, Nexen said. FPSO capacity will be 2 million bbl (OGJ, Aug. 10, 2009, p. 47). Drilling and well completion will continue.

Usan field is expected to start up in 2012 and ramp up to peak production of 180,000 b/d. Nexen’s interest is 20%.
