HOUSTON, Nov. 9 – Addax Petroleum Corp. has spudded the Malanza-1X exploratory well in Block 4 of the Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Zone in the Gulf of Guinea.

The Transocean Deepwater Pathfinder semisubmersible is to drill the well in an estimated 5 weeks, said ERHC Energy Inc., Houston, which has 19.5% interest in Block 4.

Malanza-1X is the fourth well in the current campaign, which encompasses JDZ Blocks 2, 3, and 4. It is the second well on JDZ Block 4 after Lemba-1X, finished last week with results under assessment.
