HOUSTON, Nov. 20 -- Continental Resources Inc. has promoted Jeffrey B. Hume to president and chief operating officer. Hume has served as chief operating officer since October 2008.

Prior to his promotion, Hume served as senior vice-president, operations. He was previously named senior vice-president, resource and business development, in October 2005; named senior vice-president, resource development, in July 2002, and served as vice-president, drilling operations, during 1996-2002.

Hume joined Continental in May 1983 as vice-president, engineering and operations, prior to which he held various engineering positions with Sun Oil Co., Monsanto Co., and FCD Oil Corp.
