Maersk Oil makes management changes

Maersk Oil elected Jakob Thomasen as its new chief executive officer.

-- Maersk Oil elected Jakob Thomasen as its new chief executive officer. Thomas Thune Andersen will leave his position as the company’s chief executive and partner in Firmaet AP Moller at the end of August.

Thomasen recently served as head of exploration and business development for Maersk. He will become a member of the executive board of the AP Moller-Maersk Group.

Thomasen began his career at Maersk in 1988 as a geologist. He led the company’s largest development in Qatar, where the project at the Al Shaheen field is 80% complete. He was head of Maersk in Qatar in 2004-09.
