Newfield Exploration makes executive appointments

HOUSTON, Feb. 6 -- Newfield Exploration Co., Houston, has named Lee K. Boothby as president. The company expects to elect Boothby to chief executive officer at its annual meeting in May, where he will also stand for election to the board. Boothby will succeed David A. Trice, who plans to retire as chief executive officer at the meeting.

Newfield also selected Gary D. Packer as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, effective at the annual meeting in May.

Boothby joined Newfield 10 years ago and most recently served as senior vice-president, acquisitions and business development.

Packer joined Newfield in 1995 and currently serves as president of Newfield's Rocky Mountain division in Denver. He has held this position since Newfield acquired Inland Resources and entered the Rockies in 2004.
