LONDON, Feb. 5 -- Afren PLC and its partner Oriental Energy are analyzing the data from the two-well appraisal drilling program in Ebok oil field 50 km off Nigeria.

The Transocean Trident IV jack up drilling rig work carried out the work on Block OML 67. The partners plan to produce oil from Ebok beginning in second-half 2010. It is expected to peak at 15,000-20,000 b/d.

"The appraisal program met all predrill objectives," said Afren. The Ebok-4 appraisal well is targeting the Ebok-2 discovery while the Ebok-5 well is on the undrilled Ebok West fault block, which contains an estimated mean OOIP of 67 million bbl.

Ebok is estimated to hold OOIP of 77-167 million bbl of oil. It has previously tested 24° gravity oil. The undeveloped field is in 135 ft of water in the southeastern producing area.

Ebok was discovered by ExxonMobil Corp. and its joint venture partner Nigeria National Petroleum Corp. in 1968 (M-QQ1 and Ebok-1). Two subsequent appraisal wells were drilled in 1970 (Ebok-2 and Ebok-3).

A total of 271 ft of net oil pay was encountered in Ebok-1 in four sands at 2,600-3,600 ft. None of the zones were production tested.
