MELBOURNE, Jan. 15 -- Yokogawa Australia was awarded a contract to replace the control system in the LNG carrier Northwest Sanderling, which ships LNG from the North West Shelf project in Western Australia to Japan and other Asian markets.
Yokagawa will supply a Centrum VP Integrated Production Control System to monitor and control the LNG cargo as well as ship turbines and ballast. It will also monitor the Prosafe-RS Safety System for safety management of the boiler, the LNG tanks, and the vessel's quarters.
The work includes engineering, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning services, during which Yokagawa equipment will replace the original Honeywell TDC2000/3000 system.
The Northwest Sanderling, oldest of the nine LNG carriers in the North West Shelf shipping fleet, will be in dry dock in Singapore in June.
Yokogawa also was awarded a contract to replace the monitoring and control systems of two LNG carriers owned by Brunei Gas Carriers.
