HOUSTON, Jan. 2--ONGC Petro addition Ltd. (OPaL), which is planning a major petrochemicals complex in India's special economic zone at Dahej, Gujarat, has awarded a $1.43 billion contract to a consortium of Samsung Engineering Ltd. of Seoul and Linde AG of Germany for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a naphtha and gas dual-feed ethylene cracker and associated units at the complex. The system will be the largest at the complex.
The plant will have capacity to produce 1.1 million tonnes/year of ethylene and 340,000 tonnes/year of propylene. It is scheduled for completion at the end of 2012.
OPaL is a joint venture of Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd., Delhi, 26%, and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. Ltd.
