    A group led by Nido Petroleum Ltd., Perth, made the final investment decision to develop Tindalo oil field on Service Contract 54 Block A off Northwest Palawan Island in the Philippines.
  • 12/10/2009 -- Ecuador
    A unit of Ivanhoe Energy Inc., Calgary, plans to spud a well within days in Ecuador’s giant Pungarayacu heavy oil field.
  • 12/10/2009 -- Cairn launches Sri Lanka Mannar basin seismic
    A unit of Cairn India has begun a 3D seismic survey on Block 2007-01-01 in the Mannar basin in the Gulf of Mannar off Sri Lanka.
  • 12/10/2009 -- Tunisia
    Audax Resources Ltd., Perth, chose the multiobjective Sidi Daher prospect as its first target to be drilled in the Chorbane block onshore Tunisia. Spud date is not yet announced.
  • 12/09/2009 -- Kazakhstan
    Tethys Petroleum Ltd., Guernsey, Channel Islands, UK, won an extension of the Akkulka exploration contract in Kazakhstan until Mar. 10, 2011, which will allow further testing of deep and shallow prospects.
  • 12/09/2009 -- PetroKamchatka drilling in Far East Russia
    PetroKamchatka PLC, Jersey, Channel Islands, UK, is drilling its first exploration well on the Tigil block on Far East Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula and plans to begin trading this month on Canada’s Toronto Stock Exchange.
  • 12/09/2009 -- Husky adds South China Sea gas find at Liwan
    A unit of Husky Energy Inc., Calgary, gauged another large gas-condensate discovery on deepwater Block 29/26 in the eastern South China Sea, near the company’s 2006 Liwan discovery from which it hopes to begin gas production in 2013.
  • 12/09/2009 -- Nigeria-Sao Tome JDZ
    Addax Petroleum Corp., Calgary, has spud the Oki East exploratory well in Block 4 of the Nigeria-Sao Tome & Principe Joint Development Zone in the Gulf of Guinea.

    A unit of Total SA, Paris, made a multizone oil discovery at the Owowo South B-1 well in OPL 223 off Nigeria.

    S&W Oil & Gas LLC, Wichita, drillstem tested 44° gravity oil from a 12-ft pay zone at 5,400 ft at the 24-1 Double H well in Ford County, Kan., 20 miles south of Dodge City.
