  • 08/07/2009 -- US drilling up for fourth week
    US drilling activity continued to climb for the fourth consecutive week, up by 18 rotary rigs to 966 working, compared with 1,870 during the same period a year ago, said Baker Hughes Inc.
  • 08/05/2009 -- StatoilHydro starts Tune South gas production
    StatoilHydro expects plateau production of 1.5 million standard cu m/day of natural gas in 2009-10 from the Tune South satellite well, which was tied back to Oseberg field in the Norwegian North Sea.

    Tennessee needs to sharply increase its natural gas production in support of a planned gas-fired electric generating plant to be built at Rogersville in Hancock County northeast of Knoxville, said the Tennessee Oil & Gas Association.

    Tullow Ghana Ltd. has let a contract for subsea, well test, and data acquisition services to Expro International Group PLC for its deepwater Jubilee oil field off Ghana, which is due to start production next year (OGJ, July 27, 2009, p. 35).

    Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Ltd. has let a lump-sum turnkey contract to Saipem SPA for tieback work in 2011 on the Kizomba satellites program on Block 15 off Angola.

    Recent drilling results have strengthened earlier estimates of 10 bcf of ultimate gas recovery from individual horizontal wells in the Horn River basin shales of Northeast British Columbia, said Apache Corp.
  • 07/31/2009 -- US rotary rig count continues to gain
    US drilling activity increased again this week with the addition of 5 rotary rigs, bringing the total working units to 948, far below the 1,951 that were drilling in the same period a year ago, according to the latest count by Baker Hughes Inc. July 31.
