HOUSTON, Aug. 15 -- A group led by Roch SA, Buenos Aires, will undertake a long term pump test on a Jurassic Tobifera oil discovery on 521,000 acres of concessions at Tierra del Fuego in Argentina's Austral basin.
Angostura Sur x-1001, which targeted a new four-way structural closure 15 km northwest of Las Violetas field, swabbed 270 b/d of 26° gravity oil from the Tobifera, said Antrim Energy Inc., Calgary, which has 25.78% interest. The well also has 10 m of potential pay in Cretaceous Springhill, to be developed later.
In a 2-year drilling program that began in September 2007, six wells have been drilled in Los Patos oil field, three in Las Violetas oil field, one in Los Patos gas field, four in Los Flamencos gas field, and one in San Luis gas field.
First stage commissioning of a pipeline linking the gas fields with the San Martin gas sales line across the Straits of Magellan is expected to be completed in September. Gas processing capacity is being expanded to 40 MMcfd.
Roch is operator with 24.29% interest. Besides Antrim, participants are APCO Argentina 25.78%, San Enrique Petrolera SA 12.62%, and DPG SA 11.54%.
