ExxonMobil names Dolan senior VP; promotes others

HOUSTON, Mar. 14 -- ExxonMobil Corp. has named Michael Dolan senior vice-president, effective Apr. 1.

Dolan, currently president of ExxonMobil Chemical Co. (EMCC), also will be a member of the corporation's management committee.

Dolan has held various technical and managerial positions, having started his career in 1980 as a research engineer. He transferred in 1989 to Mobil Australia as a technical manager in its refining operations.

He returned to the US in 1991 and held a number of managerial positions before becoming vice-president, petrochemical Americas, in 1998. Following the merger of Exxon Corp. and Mobil Corp. in 1999, he became regional director, Middle East and Africa, EMCC. In 2001, he became executive vice-president of ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia. He returned to the US as deputy to the president of ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Co. (EMRS) in 2003. Dolan was appointed president of EMCC in 2004.

Concurrent with Dolan's election, the board has appointed current EMRS Pres. Stephen Pryor to succeed Dolan as president of EMCC, effective Apr. 1.

Pryor joined Mobil in 1971 and held financial and managerial positions in the US, Cyprus, the UK, and New Zealand. In 1993, he was appointed vice-president, Mobil Chemical Co., and general manager, plastics division. In 1996, he became president, Mobil Asia Pacific, and in 1998, executive vice-president responsible for Mobil's international downstream business. Following the merger, he was appointed president, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Co., and in 2002 became executive vice-president, EMCC. He was appointed president, EMRS in 2004.

In addition, Sherman Glass, currently senior vice-president, EMCC, is to succeed Pryor as president, EMRS, effective Apr. 1.

Glass began his career in 1972 as an engineer at the Baytown, Tex., refinery. Following technical and management roles in the refining business of Exxon Co. USA, he became vice-president, basic chemicals Americas, at Exxon Chemical Co., in 1993, and in 1996 transferred to Brussels as vice-president, basic chemicals Europe.

He then held a number of other senior positions, including manager of refining, Exxon Co. International, responsible for the refining business outside North America. In 2001, he became general manager, corporate planning, ExxonMobil, before being appointed president, ExxonMobil Global Services Co. in 2002. Glass was appointed senior vice-president, basic chemicals, intermediates & synthetics, EMCC, in 2005.
