  • 07/16/2008 -- Bechtel awarded FEED for CSM LNG job
    Queensland Gas Co. (QGC), Brisbane, and the BG Group of the UK have signed an agreement with Bechtel Corp. for the company to be project contractor for the proposed Queensland Curtis Island LNG plant near Gladstone in Queensland. The feed gas will be sourced from coal-seam methane (CSM).

    Zurich engineering firm ABB signed a $61-million frame agreement with Petroleo Brasileiro SA to supply process automation systems and related services to eight oil refineries in Brazil over 5 years. The agreement includes $29 million for engineering services.
  • 07/15/2008 -- Saudi Arabia to seek Jizan refinery bids Sept. 6
    Saudi Arabia, renewing efforts for the construction of a long delayed facility, will issue tenders in September for a new oil refinery in the southern province of Jizan, according to local media.

    Libya's National Oil Corp. (NOC) signed a 50:50 joint venture agreement with the Star Consortium of TransAsia Gas International and Star Petro Energy covering improvement of the existing 220,000-b/d Ras Lanuf export refinery.

    Water which leaked through a valve, froze and cracked an out-of-service section of piping was the likely cause of a Feb. 16, 2007 fire at a Texas oil refinery, the US Chemical Safety Board said.
