  • 07/16/2008 -- Tullow appraises Jubilee oil field off Ghana
    Tullow Oil PLC has tested 4,448 b/d of oil from the Mahogony-2 appraisal well in Jubilee field off Ghana. Tullow reported that it expects to start oil production from Jubilee field in 2010. Its suggested upside could be as much as 1.8 billion bbl of oil.
  • 07/16/2008 -- GeoPark tests wildcat's oil on Chile's Fell block
    GeoPark Holdings Ltd. discovered an oil field in Chile's Fell block following drilling and testing at its Aonikenk 1 exploration well.
  • 07/16/2008 -- CNOOC completes Bohai Bay discovery
    China National Offshore Oil Co. successfully completed its wildcat Ken Li (KL) 10-1-1 well, drilled independently in Bohai Bay.
  • 07/16/2008 -- Shell awards Oceaneering Perdido subsea works
    Shell Oil Co. recently awarded a contract to Oceaneering International Inc., Houston, for fabrication and installation of subsea equipment on Shell's ultradeepwater Perdido Regional Development project in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • 07/15/2008 -- ExxonMobil lets contracts for Alaska's Point Thomson
    ExxonMobil Production Co. has let contracts for work in support of the first well of a multiwell drilling program at Point Thomson Unit (PTU) on Alaska's North Slope. The gas-condensate area has no production.
  • 07/15/2008 -- Bangladesh selects firms for nine offshore blocks
    Bangladesh is expected to award eight offshore blocks to ConocoPhillips and one block to Tullow Oil, the chairman of state-run oil and gas company, Petrobangla, told reporters in Dhaka. The blocks are in the Bay of Bengal.
  • 07/14/2008 -- Range boosts Marcellus shale high-grade acreage
    Range Resources Corp. said it has drilled more than 100 wells in the Marcellus shale, including 20 horizontal wells, and has increased its high-graded acreage position to 850,000 net acres out of 1.4 million acres total.

    Brazil will likely hold two auctions for oil and gas exploration blocks in 2008, but will exclude rights to blocks in the presalt layer until passage of a new regulatory law.

    Chevron Australia has made what it is calling a "significant extension" to Iago natural gas field in the Carnarvon basin off Western Australia.

    Canadian Superior Energy and BG International will conduct flow testing on the Bounty well, which was drilled on the Intrepid Block 5(c) off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago.

    Two North Dakota wells 23 miles apart have flowed at promising rates from the Devonian Three Forks/Sanish formation, said Continental Resources.

    Sterling Energy spudded its Iris Charlie Marin-1 exploration well in the Iris Marin production-sharing contract area off Gabon.

    Industry-led, nonprofit Geoscience BC has launched a 350 line-km 2D seismic survey southwest of Prince George in British Columbia's nonproducing Nechako basin.

    Petroceltic International PLC has received from the Italian government nine exploration permits in the central Adriatic off Italy.
  • 07/04/2008 -- Lundin finds oil on Lagansky block in Caspian Sea
    Lundin Petroleum said its Morskaya-1 exploration well, which was drilled on Lagansky block in the northern Caspian Sea, has encountered a major oil accumulation in the Aptian and Neocomian sandstone reservoirs.

    Husky Energy Inc., Calgary, has signed on for its eighth block off South China and plans to begin delineating its Liwan 3-1 deepwater gas discovery later this year.
