LONDON, Nov. 30 -- Gas production has begun from Total SA-operated Sisi-Nubi fields off East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Production is expected to plateau at 10 million cu m/day within the next 18 months, and Total expects to extend the plateau period during later development phases.
The fields, which have multiple layers of poorly consolidated sands, were developed in the first phase with three wellhead platforms, a reception facility, and a subsea pipeline gathering network. Gas and condensate is sent to the existing Tunu processing center. From there gas is piped to the Bontang LNG plant, and condensates flow to the export terminal at Senipah.
The company has invested in advanced drilling technologies for 27 additional development wells needed for Phase 1.
Lying roughly 25 km from the Mahakam Delta in 60-90 m of water, the two fields are located in the Total-operated Mahakam and Tengah blocks.
