HOUSTON, July 5 -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has started up an electrical submersible pump (ESP) pressure-boosting system in Jubarte oil field in 4,600 ft of water in the Campos basin off Brazil (OGJ, May 14, 2007, p. 17).
The 1 Mw system is producing about 22,000 b/d of oil. It was installed in November 2005 but was only recently commissioned following hookup of a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel.
Petrobras plans to install an additional eight vertical booster stations using ESP technology at Jubarte. Baker Hughes Centrilift is the contractor.
Petrobras also is installing seven Centrilift multiphase ESP systems in deepwater Espadarte and Golfinho oil fields off Brazil. These systems are due to start up this summer. Flow rates in Espadarte field are expected to total about 19,000 b/d/well. In Golfinho the estimated flow rates should be about 28,000 b/d/well.
