HOUSTON, Apr. 26 -- Thompson Jewell has been named chief executive officer of Austral Pacific Energy Ltd., effective May 1.
Jewell has 30 years of international oil and gas experience, including in the Middle East, the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada.
Most recently, Jewell directed the strategic planning and development of an offshore exploration business in Australia. Before that, he worked for Amoco, managing a $100 million/year exploration and appraisal budget covering the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. He has served as president of Amoco Oman and in various technical and senior executive roles during his tenure with Santos Ltd.
