Guangxi refinery due polypropylene plant

PetroChina let a contract to Aker Kvaerner and a subsidiary of CNPC for basic engineering design of a 200,000 tpy polypropylene plant to be installed at the Guangxi Petrochemical complex in China.

HOUSTON, Mar. 9 -- PetroChina has let a contract to Aker Kvaerner ASA and a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp. for basic engineering design and supply of certain equipment for a 200,000 tonne/year polypropylene plant to be installed at the Guangxi Petrochemical Co. complex in China.

The contract value was not disclosed.

The plant, which will use Dow Chemical Co.'s UNIPOL polypropylene technology, is expected to start operations in 2008.
