LONDON, Feb. 12 -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Services let a subcontract to Mustang Engineering to design a compliant piled tower (CPT) for the Tombua-Landana development project off Angola to support full drilling and production on Block 14.
Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corp., operates the field in the eastern section of the block in 1,200 ft of water. When developed Tombua-Landana is expected to achieve peak production of 100,000 b/d of oil by 2010 through its own facility.
The tower will use a tender assist drilling rig with topsides weighing more than 36,000 short tons and having 38 well slots.
Mustang designed its first CPT off West Africa for the nearby Benguela-Belize development, also on Block 14 in 1,280 ft of water.
