LONDON, Jan. 19 -- Imperial Energy Corp. PLC plans to frac and test an indicated oil discovery in the Tomsk region of Russia.

The company logged and cored 13 m of oil pay in the Golovnaya 353, drilled to 2,542 m on Block 74. The well is 70 km northwest of Imperial's Snezhnaya field on Block 77 and could be linked with the proposed Snezhnaya-Zavyalovo pipeline, due for completion in late summer.

Imperial said its new drilling unit, Rus Imperial Group, has secured three top-drive rigs for a total of $41 million and expects to receive the first one late this summer. The next two will be delivered at monthly intervals after that. The rigs will work in the Tomsk region, beginning this winter.
