  • 02/20/2007 -- Excelerate begins commercial operations of UK's Teesside GasPort
    Commercial operations have started at Excelerate Energy's GasPort in Teesside in northern England, opening the possibility of supplying as much as 600 MMcfd of peak gas directly into the UK national grid system.
  • 02/20/2007 -- Brazil, Bolivia sign natural gas-price agreement
    After months of negotiations, Bolivian President Evo Morales and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva have signed a protocol agreement that formalizes an increased price for natural gas that Bolivia exports to Brazil.

    National Grid, operator of the UK's gas network, will build a 196-km, 1,220-mm natural gas pipeline from Felindre, near Swansea in west England to Tirley in Gloucestershire, subject to strict UK environmental conditions.
  • 02/15/2007 -- FERC issues draft EIS on E. Texas-Mississippi gas line
    A proposed 243-mile natural gas pipeline from East Texas to Mississippi would be in the public interest and have a minimal environmental impact if proposed mitigation measures are followed, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said in a draft environmental impact statement.

    Seven years after the Erika oil tanker spill off Brittany's Penmarc'h point, Dec. 12, 1999, which polluted 400 km of France's Brittany coastline, 15 accused are facing a trial that began Feb. 12 and is due to last until June 13.

    RWE Energy AG plans to construct a 5 billion cu m/year gas pipeline that will extend from the Czech Republic to Belgium. It would start operations in 2011 and reduce Germany's reliance on Russian gas imports.
  • 02/06/2007 -- BP reports 600,000 b/d throughput for BTC oil line
    BP PLC reported that throughput at the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan crude pipeline has reached 600,000 b/d, but it plans eventually to increase that to 1 million b/d.

    Qatar Gas Transport Co. has awarded South Korean shipbuilders Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine orders totaling $2.1 billion for the construction of eight LNG carriers.

    US Assistant Sec. of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Daniel Sullivan has arrived in Kazakhstan with a delegation to discuss diversifying the country's oil and gas export routes.

    Greece and Italy are planning to build a 220-km pipeline that will transport 8 billion cu m/year of gas from the Capsian Sea to Europe via Turkey from 2011.
  • 02/02/2007 -- CenterPoint, Spectra pull plug on Midcontinent gas pipeline
    CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Co. and Spectra Energy have agreed to call off development of a joint Midcontinent Crossing (MCX) pipeline, which proposed to move natural gas from basins in the Midcontinent to interconnects serving the US Northeast and Southeast (OGJ Online, June 12, 2006, Newsletter).
  • 02/02/2007 -- Petrobras's Transpetro adds to oil tanker fleet
    Brazil on Jan. 31 signed contracts for the construction of 10 Suezmax-class oil tankers for the fleet of Transpetro, the transportation unit of state oil firm Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras), which plans to acquire a total of 42 new ships by 2015.
