    The Brazilian National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) has awarded state-owned Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) 2.49 billion reais for the construction of several pipelines in Amazonas state.

  • 12/11/2007 -- No spill from Gulf of Aden tanker collision
    No oil pollution has resulted from a collision between the oil carrier Samco Europe and a container ship in the Gulf of Aden Dec. 10, Total SA said.
  • 12/11/2007 -- El Paso plans 680-mile Ruby gas pipeline
    El Paso Corp. has filed a federal right-of-way application with the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management for its Ruby Pipeline, a 680-mile, 42-in. natural gas transmission line that will extend from the Opal Hub in Wyoming to the Malin, Ore., interconnect near California's northern border.
  • 12/11/2007 -- Sunshine Gas, Sojitz, plan Gladstone LNG plant
    Sunshine Gas Ltd., Brisbane, plans to build a $572 million (Aus.) LNG plant at Gladstone on Queensland's east-central coast. It is the third company to do so after separate, but similar plans announced earlier this year by Arrow Energy and Santos.

    Thailand's state-owned PTT PLC has acquired a 25% interest in Egyptian gas firm East Mediterranean Gas Co. SAE (EMG) for $487 million.
  • 12/05/2007 -- Metgasco to extend Casino-Ipswitch gas pipeline
    Sydney-based coal seam methane explorer Metgasco Ltd. is planning to extend its proposed 140 km Casino-Ipswitch gas pipeline further north to BP Australia's refinery on the Brisbane River. The pipeline previously was designed to deliver gas from the Casino area in northern New South Wales to CS Energy's Swanbank power station near Ipswitch, Queensland.

    Russia's OAO Gazprom and Eni SPA of Italy signed an agreement to build the projected 560-mile South Stream gas pipeline under the Black Sea and through Bulgaria.

    Russia and Turkmenistan have agreed to accelerate development of the proposed Caspian Gas Pipeline project following talks between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, and Deputy Prime Minister Tachberdy Tagyyev.
