    The US Minerals Management Service will begin the necessary environmental reviews of about 580,000 acres in the eastern Gulf of Mexico opened for oil and gas leasing by legislation signed by President George W. Bush on Dec. 20, the Department of the Interior agency said.

    Woodside Energy (NA) Ltd., a subsidiary of Woodside Petroleum Ltd. and operator of the NC210 Block in the Murzuq basin in Libya, has made a gas discovery with its C1-NC210 exploration well on the block, said joint venture partner Repsol YPF.
  • 01/03/2007 -- Petsec reports another Mobile Bay gas discovery
    Petsec Energy Ltd., Sydney, made a natural gas discovery on Mobile Bay leases in the Gulf of Mexico. Its 50-50 partner is independent Royal Exploration Co. Inc., Corpus Christi, Tex.
  • 01/04/2007 -- Toreador tests second zone in Black Sea well
    A group led by Toreador Resources Corp., Dallas, said the Black Sea Akcakoca-3 well's shallowest zone flowed 20 MMcfd on test at 1,360 psi through a 48/64-in. choke.
