    Exploration for Ordovician Trenton-Black River gas in Quebec's St. Lawrence Lowlands will continue even though flow rates have fallen off at an initial exploratory well, said Questerre Energy Corp., Calgary.

    The operator of Tanzania's Songo Songo gas project said it will explore for oil in sub-Saharan Africa next year as it continues to develop the field, find new gas markets, and evaluate the block.

    Statoil AS has tested natural gas in Devonian sandstones with its Hassi Tidjerane West (HTJW-1) well in Algeria, the company reported. Statoil is operator of the project.
  • 06/25/2007 -- Artumas makes gas, oil discovery in Tanzania
    Artumas Group Inc., Calgary, recently tested the Msimbati-1X (MS-1X) discovery well on its Mnazi Bay concession in southern Tanzania along with the MB-2 and MB-3 appraisal wells and reported that gas flow "exceeded expectations" for production potential.

    Exxoil SA will drill two onshore wells in Tunisia by yearend under an agreement with Oil Field Services (OFS). OFS will use its Franks Cabot 900 rig to drill both wells.

    EnerGulf Resources Inc., Houston, plans to drill Kunene No. 1 exploration well on Block 1711 off Namibia by Oct. 31, 2008.

    Midwestern Oil & Gas Co. PLC, operator of Umusadege field in the central Niger Delta, has cased and suspended the UMU-4 well, said field partner Mart Resources Inc.

    Orient Petroleum Inc. made an oil and natural gas discovery with its Rahim-1 well drilled on Khipro block in Sindh province, Pakistan.

    Swiber Holdings Ltd., Singapore, has signed a $31 million letter of intent with Kencana Petroleum for the installation of a wellhead platform in Petronas-operated Puteri gas field off Sarawak, Malaysia.
