    Petroleos de Venezuela SA said it will explore off Cuba with Cupet, the Cuban national oil company.
  • 08/01/2007 -- Australia awards 11 offshore exploration permits
    Total E&P Australia, Samson International (Australia) Pty. Ltd., and CNOOC Australia E&P are among companies acquiring 6-year exploration permits in Australia's latest licensing round. The permits can be renewed twice for periods of 5 years.
  • 08/01/2007 -- Dominion acquires exploration license in Uganda
    Dominion Petroleum Ltd. has signed a production-sharing agreement (PSA) with Uganda to explore Block 4B in southwestern Uganda. The 2,021 sq km block is on the border contiguous with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Block 4B lies southeast of Lake Edward in the Eastern Rift Valley in the same sedimentary basin as Lake Albert.

    Essar Oil Ltd. struck oil in its Mehsana onshore production block CB-ON-3 in Gujarat, its second find this year after its strike in March.

    South Korea's SK Energy said it has won a bid to develop Block Z-46 in the Trujillo basin off Peru, which company officials called "very promising."
