  • 03/09/2007 -- Well off Peru flows oil, gas at hefty rates
    A well in Corvina field off northwestern Peru has flowed at rates of 40 MMcfd of gas and 3,150 b/d of crude oil from separate intervals, exceeding expectations, said BPZ Energy Inc., Houston.
  • 03/09/2007 -- Cuu Long wildcat finds oil shows in clastics
    SOCO Vietnam Ltd. was moving a rig to Block 16-1 in the Cuu Long basin to drill as many as eight exploration wells this year after failing to find commercial hydrocarbons at an exploratory well on Block 9-2.
  • 03/12/2007 -- Total awarded block off East Kalimantan
    Total SA has been awarded the South East Mahakam exploration block in the Mahakam Delta off East Kalimantan in Indonesia.
  • 03/13/2007 -- Total drills dry hole in Norwegian Sea
    Total E&P Norge AS has drilled a dry hole in its wildcat well 6406/8-2 in the Norwegian Sea, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
  • 03/13/2007 -- Louisiana well tab $60 million to 30,000 ft
    Meridian Resource Corp., Houston, and others are gearing up to drill an ultradeep wildcat near New Orleans for which the dry hole cost is an estimated $60 million.
  • 03/13/2007 -- Talisman makes gas discovery in British Columbia
    Talisman Energy Inc. and Husky Oil Operations Ltd. have drilled a successful natural gas exploration well in the foothills area of northeastern British Columbia. The companies are equal partners in the discovery.

    Imperial Energy Ltd. said a wholly owned Siberian subsidiary plans to drill nine wells this year on identified oil-bearing intervals in Maiskoye oil field on Block 70 in Siberia.

    Toreador Resources Corp. and partners have made two additional gas discoveries in the South Akcakoca subbasin in the Black Sea off Turkey.
  • 03/19/2007 -- CNOOC makes oil, gas discovery in Bohai Bay
    CNOOC Ltd. found oil and gas with a discovery well drilled in the Yellow River Mouth Sag of Bohai Bay. The well, Bozhong (BZ) 28-2E-1, was drilled south of Structure BZ 28-2E between BZ 28-1 and BZ 28-2S oil fields.
  • 03/20/2007 -- MMS issues final notice for Beaufort Sea lease sale
    The US Minerals Management Service issued a final notice for OCS Lease Sale 202, covering 8.7 million acres off Alaska's northern coast in the Beaufort Sea. The sale will be held Apr. 18 in Anchorage, MMS said.

    Statoil AS plans to shoot a 2,000 km, 2D seismic survey in the Kufra license in the southeastern part of Libya for the first time in the country under its work program for the two licenses it was awarded last year.

    Tower Resources PLC plans to drill two exploration wells on Block EA5 in western Uganda by 2008 and may also drill a contingent well under the second exploration phase of its Ugandan license.

    While applauding objectives of the UK Marine Bill White Paper to streamline current marine oil and gas licensing, the UK Offshore Operators' Association warned Mar. 15 that energy companies could face delays in securing governmental approval for new offshore projects because the proposed bill could add "another layer of bureaucracy" in the environmental sphere.
