  • 01/19/2007 -- US drilling activity increases for third week
    US drilling activity continued to grow for the third consecutive week despite a blanket of ice and snow across much of the nation, increasing by 28 rotary rigs to 1,745 units working this week, up from 1,472 during the same period in 2006, said Baker Hughes Inc.
  • 01/19/2007 -- Drilling set for Indonesia's Cepu Block
    Indonesia's state-owned PT Pertamina and ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiary Mobil Cepu Ltd. (MCL) plan to invest $279 million to drill 12 wells in Banyu Urip oil field on the Cepu Block, East Java.

    Gas production has resumed from the first well at the Shah Deniz gas field off Azerbaijan, a BP spokesman told OGJ. The project was shut in late in December because of problems with pressures in the wells (OGJ Online, Jan. 10, 2007).

    Senergy Ltd., Aberdeen, has been awarded a 6-month contract from Russia's Vanyoganneft for well and completion designs for a 13-well drilling program in Western Siberia.

    Norway's Aker Kvaerner has won separate contracts worth a total $273 million for marine equipment installation in the Gulf of Mexico and India.

    Indonesian officials say the Cepu block in the border area of Central and East Java will start producing oil in first quarter 2009, one quarter later than originally scheduled (OGJ, Sept. 11, 2006, Newsletter).
  • 01/02/2007 -- DNO to produce oil in northern Iraq this quarter
    Norway's DNO ASA will begin oil production from its Tawke crude oil project in northern Iraq in first quarter, 2007, the company said Dec.28.
