    Saudi Aramco has let contract to National Petroleum Construction Co. (NPCC) of the UAE for ancillary platforms in Zuluf and Marjan oil fields off Saudi Arabia.
  • 03/23/2007 -- Drilling activity rebounds slightly
    US drilling activity rebounded slightly, up by 5 rotary rigs from last week to 1,745 working the week ended Mar. 23 vs. 1,571 during the same period last year, said Baker Hughes Inc.
  • 03/22/2007 -- Pokohura platform off New Zealand on stream
    Gas and condensate production from offshore wells in Pokohura field off New Zealand has begun.
  • 03/21/2007 -- Gas production starts from Bibiyana field in Bangladesh
    Chevron Corp. has brought on production from Bibiyana gas field on Block 12 in the Habiganj district of northeast Bangladesh.
  • 03/16/2007 -- Rotary rig numbers down slightly in US, Canada
    The number of rotary rigs working in the US was 1,740 the week ended Mar. 16, which is 17 less than were working the same time last week but up by 194 from Mar. 17, 2006, according to Baker Hughes in Houston.

    Murphy Sarawak Oil Co. Ltd. has awarded a $122.7 million contract to Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn. Bhd. subsidiary Tanjung Offshore Bhd. to provide a jack up drilling rig.

    Callon Petroleum Co., Natchez, Miss., plans to take a development partner and has set a goal of starting production from Entrada field in the Gulf of Mexico by 2009.

    Meridian Resource Corp., Houston, plans to begin nitrogen injection at giant Weeks Island oil and gas field near New Iberia, La., in mid-2007.

    The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority has granted Statoil ASA consent to employ Transocean Offshore's Polar Pioneer drilling rig to continue oil production in Norne oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea.

    US drilling activity increased this week with a net gain of 5 rotary rigs for a total of 1,757 working. That's up from 1,752 active rigs in the same period last year, said Baker Hughes Inc.

    Indonesia has offered a larger production split to production-sharing contractor Premier Oil PLC as compensation for a proposed cut in price of the firm's natural gas from Natuna field.

    US drilling activity dipped slightly this week with a net loss of 2 rotary rigs, but 1,752 are still working. That's up from 1,531 active rigs in the same period last year, said Baker Hughes Inc.

    Commercial gas production has begun at Changbei gas field in China, said Royal Dutch Shell PLC, the field's operator, on Mar. 1. The field is expected to plateau at 3 billion cu m/year in 2008 and deliver gas to Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, and Hebei.

    Petroleo Brasilerio signed a memorandum of understanding with Jordan's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to study the viability of Petrobras's patented Petrosix mining technology at the Attarat Umm Ghudran oil shale deposit 50 miles south of Amman.
