Lukoil closes acquisition of Chaparral Resources

OAO Lukoil Overseas Holding Ltd. on Sept. 29 closed its $88.6 million acquisition of Chaparral Resources Inc., an exploration and development company based in New York with operations in Kasakhstan.

HOUSTON, Oct. 2 -- OAO Lukoil Overseas Holding Ltd. on Sept. 29 closed its $88.6 million acquisition of Chaparral Resources Inc., an exploration and development company based in New York with operations in Kasakhstan.

Closing following approval by Chaparral shareholders during a special meeting in London, also on Sept. 29. Chaparral has ceased to be a publicly traded company and is now a Lukoil subsidiary.

Since December 2005, Lukoil Overseas Group owned 60% of Chaparral. Lukoil announced plans to acquire Chaparral in March (OGJ Online, Mar. 14, 2006).
