  • 02/02/2006 -- Darwin LNG begins Bayu-Undan shipments
    ConocoPhillips's Darwin LNG plant at Wickham Point, Australia, on Feb. 2 was loading its first cargo from Bayu-Undan gas field in the Timor Sea into the Japanese LNG carrier Kotowaka Maru.
  • 01/31/2006 -- El Paso secures commitments for gas storage
    El Paso Corp.'s ANR Pipeline Co. has received firm commitments for 17 bcf of natural gas storage capacity and associated transportation service for the first phase of a storage-enhancement project in Michigan's Lower Penninsula.
  • 01/31/2006 -- BG to buy LNG from Nigeria's Brass LNG
    BG Group PLC subsidiary BG Gas Marketing Ltd. (BGGM) signed a memorandum of understanding to buy 2 million tonnes/year of LNG from Nigeria's Brass LNG for 20 years.
  • 01/30/2006 -- Petronas, AGL plan 1,200 km pipeline in Queensland
    The Queensland government has announced plans to build a $1 billion (Aust.) gas pipeline from Townsville on the northeast coast to Ballera in the southwest corner of the state as an extension of the proposed PNG (Papua New Guinea-to-Australia) pipeline project .
  • 01/27/2006 -- Tsakos takes delivery of VLCC
    Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd. has taken delivery of the 298,900 dwt double-hull very large crude carrier (VLCC) La Prudencia built in 1993. The vessel has been immediately employed by a major oil company for a 50-day voyage.
  • 01/26/2006 -- EPC contract let for Calhoun LNG project
    Gulf Coast LNG Partners LP, Houston, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tractebel Gas Engineering GMBH for a full-service, lump-sum turnkey contract for detailed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the proposed Calhoun LNG Regasification Terminal at Port Lavaca-Point Comfort in Calhoun County, Tex.
  • 01/24/2006 -- MLNG, Shikoku sign long-term gas-supply contract
    Malaysia LNG Sdn. Bhd. (MLNG) signed a confirmation of intent to supply Japan's Shikoku Electric Power Co. Inc. with 420,000 tonnes/year of LNG for 15 years.
  • 01/24/2006 -- NSCSA to bolster VLCC, chemical tanker fleet
    National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) plans to purchase as many as 17 very large crude carriers and chemical tankers under a 5-year expansion plan.
  • 01/23/2006 -- NLNG ships first Train 4 cargo for Total
    Total SA reported that its first cargo of LNG from Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Train 4 left Bonny Island Jan. 23 under a 1.15 million tonne/year agreement between Total Gas & Power Ltd. and NLNG for LNG from Trains 4, 5, and 6.
  • 01/23/2006 -- Dolphin operating Al Ain-Fujairah pipeline
    Dolphin Energy Ltd. (DEL) of Abu Dhabi has assumed operation and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities for its 182-km, 24-in. natural gas pipeline from Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, to Fujairah, the company's first initiative under its Dolphin Project (OGJ Online, May 20, 2002).
  • 01/23/2006 -- Gas pipelines attacked in Assam, India
    Three natural gas pipelines owned by state-owned Assam Gas Co. Ltd. allegedly were attacked by separatist militants in Assam, India, on Jan. 22.
  • 01/23/2006 -- Pipeline blasts cut Russian gas to Georgia
    Supplies of natural gas from Russia to Georgia and Armenia were disrupted Jan. 22 when explosions in North Ossetia damaged the main North Caucasus-South Caucasus (NC-SC) pipeline and the Mozdok-Tbilisi (M-T) auxiliary pipeline.
  • 01/19/2006 -- China approves two PetroChina product lines
    PetroChina said it has obtained approval from the Chinese government to lay two pipelines to carry oil products from the northeastern and northwestern areas of China to the country's central regions.
  • 01/19/2006 -- Kinder Morgan to expand terminals network
    Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMP), Houston, is planning a $57 million expansion of its Perth Amboy, NJ, terminal on Arthur Kill, 25 miles south of New York City.
  • 01/18/2006 -- Shell seeks buyers for Hazira terminal LNG
    Royal Dutch Shell PLC's LNG terminal at Hazira has lost its sole customer, Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. (GSPC), but the company says the facility remains "fully operational."
  • 01/16/2006 -- China taps GE to expand West-East gas line
    China has let a $196 million contract to GE Oil & Gas for equipment needed to expand capacity of the 4,000 km West-East gas pipeline between Xinjiang and Shanghai.
  • 01/13/2006 -- Peru LNG signs deal to export LNG to Mexico, US
    Peru LNG Co., a consortium of Hunt Oil Co., South Korea's SK Corp., and Repsol YPF SA, has signed an agreement with the Peruvian government to export LNG from Peru to Mexico and the western US.
  • 01/13/2006 -- First oil moves from Indonesia's Tiaka field
    Indonesian oil and gas company PT Medco Energi Internasional has shipped the first consignment of crude oil from Tiaka field off central Sulawesi, Indonesia (OGJ, Jan. 5, 2004, p. 37).
  • 01/12/2006 -- Enterprise to expand Independence Hub, pipeline
    Enterprise Products Partners LP, Houston, has signed agreements with the Atwater Valley Producers Group to increase the processing capacity of the Independence Hub platform in the eastern deepwater Gulf of Mexico by 150 MMcfd to a total capacity of 1 bcfd.
  • 01/11/2006 -- Nigeria LNG begins production from Train 5
    Nigeria LNG has begun production from the fifth train at the Bonny LNG plant in Nigeria. It further reported that the first LNG cargo from Train 4, which began production November 2005, is being shipped to the Lake Charles, La., terminal in the US.
