    Sonangol P&P has let a $70 million contract to Technip for flowlines associated with development of Gimboa oil field on Block 4 in 680 m of water about 85 km off Angola.

    Verenex Energy Inc., Calgary, has an indicated discovery at its first well on Block 47 in the Ghadames basin, northwestern Libya.
  • 12/18/2006 -- Pearl Energy awarded Gulf of Thailand block
    Pearl Energy Ltd., a unit of Aabar Petroleum Investments Co. PJSC of Abu Dhabi, has been awarded the oil exploration contract for Block G2/48 in the northern Gulf of Thailand.
  • 12/15/2006 -- Premier completes Blackbird drillstem tests
    Premier Oil PLC unit Premier Oil Vietnam BV has completed successful drillstem testing of two zones of the Blackbird discovery well (12E-CS-1X) on Block 12E off Vietnam.

    A group led by Toreador Resources Corp., Dallas, is scheduled to begin testing the Akcakoca-3 well—the 10th successful well drilled in the South Akcakoca subbasin project in the Black Sea off Turkey.

    Afren PLC, London, has confirmed an eastern extension of Okoro oil field off Nigeria, which it and AMNI International Petroleum Development Co. Ltd. of Nigeria plan to develop with nearby Setu oil field (OGJ Online, Oct. 18, 2006).

    Total SA has signed an exploration and production-sharing contract covering the 9,075 sq km Diaba license in 100-2,500 m of water about 50 km off Gabon.

    The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) interpreted seismic data for Madagascar through a program to assist Madagascar's oil development.

    A group led by Roch SA plans a drilling program in 2007 based upon an oil well test in Los Patos field on Argentina's Tierra del Fuego licenses, said Antrim Energy Inc., a partner.
  • 12/12/2006 -- Melrose sees reserves hike on Egyptian block
    Melrose Resources PLC, Edinburgh, expects to increase oil and gas reserves of the El Mansoura Concession in the Nile Delta of Egypt on the basis of recent appraisal and development drilling. Melrose holds a 100% working interest in the concession.

    India's state-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corp. has outlined an exploration program in the northeastern state of Tripura to tap "massive" gas reserves, an ONGC executive told reporters in Agartala.

    Horizon Oil Ltd., Sydney, along with operator Pearl Oil (Thailand) Ltd. and joint venture partner Tana Oil & Gas (Thailand) Ltd., have signed a concession agreement with the Thai government for Block G10/48 in the southern Gulf of Thailand.
