    Several operators have proposed to almost double the number of wells in Bowdoin natural gas field in Phillips and Valley counties, northeastern Montana.
  • 06/15/2006 -- BG Group enters Madagascar with Vanco farmin
    BG Group has acquired a 30% interest in the Majunga Offshore Profond exploration block in Madagascar under a farmin agreement with Vanco Madagascar Ltd., marking BG's entry into that country.

    BHP Billiton Ltd. has received approval of its development plan for deepwater Shenzi oil and gas field 120 miles off Louisiana.
  • 06/14/2006 -- Spartan enters PSA with Belize
    Spartan Petroleum Corp., Houston, has entered a production-sharing agreement (PSA) with the government of Belize covering 250,000 acres in the northern portion of the country.

    Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, is drilling its sixth horizontal well to Devonian Huron shale at Sissonville northwest of Charleston.

    CNPC International Tenere Ltd. said a rig and support equipment are to arrive in mid to late July in Cotonou, Benin, from China for the 400-km road trip to the first location to be drilled on the Tenere Concession in eastern Niger.
  • 06/13/2006 -- Achimgaz drilling Siberian production well
    The ZAO Achimgaz joint venture of Wintershall AG and OAO Gazprom subsidiary OOO Urengoygazprom has begun drilling the first production well to develop the Lower Cretaceous Achimov formation of Urengoy field in western Siberia.

    Vital Resources Corp., Calgary, plans to acquire 100% of private Bentley International Oil Ltd.'s interest in a May 26 farmout agreement with NorAsian Energy Ltd. of the Philippines that covers service contracts 50, 51, and 55 in the Northwest Palawan-Mindoro basin.

    Kerr-Mc-Gee Corp., operator of Block 04/36 in Bohai Bay, China, has made a "possible discovery" with its CFD 22-2-1 well, reported Stone Energy Corp., Lafayette, La.

    Independents plan to explore several blocks in the Kom Ombo basin along the Nile in Upper Egypt.

    DNO ASA, Oslo, said its Tawke-1 exploration well in the northern Kurdish region of Iraq discovered 100 million bbl of recoverable oil in a single zone using a 30% recovery factor.
  • 06/09/2006 -- Statoil has two Tampen area oil strikes
    Statoil ASA, operator of Production License 050, reported two oil discoveries in the Tampen area of the North Sea.
  • 06/08/2006 -- Berry expands Piceance basin holdings
    Berry Petroleum Co. signed a definitive agreement with EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. to jointly develop a portion of EnCana's North Parachute Ranch property in the Piceance basin of western Colorado.
  • 06/07/2006 -- Cretaceous gas-condensate gauged off India
    Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. and GeoGlobal Resources Inc., Calgary, plan to appraise an Upper Cretaceous gas-condensate discovery on Block KG-OSN-2001/3 in shallow water of the Krishna-Godavari basin off Kakinada.
  • 06/07/2006 -- BG Group signs contracts for blocks off China
    CNOOC Ltd. signed two production-sharing contracts with BG Group for deepwater Blocks 64/11 and 53/16 in the western South China Sea. The agreements remain subject to final government approval.

    Edge Petroleum Corp., Houston, said it has accelerated development if its Arkoma basin Mississippian Fayetteville shale gas acreage and expects to drill at least four wells in partnership with Southwestern Energy Co., Houston.

    National Iranian Oil Co. plans to sign contracts shortly with China's Sinopec on the Khorramabad exploration block and with Norsk Hydro ASA on the Garmsar block, press reports indicated.
  • 06/07/2006 -- Pagoreni development drilling starts in Peru
    The consortium that operates Peru's giant Camisea gas-condensate project is reported to have begun drilling the first of six production wells in Pagoreni gas-condensate field on nearby Block 56.
  • 06/07/2006 -- BLM's Wyoming lease sale draws $4.4 million
    The US Bureau of Land Management's Wyoming office received $4.3 million in bids for leasing rights and rental fees at its latest bimonthly oil and gas lease auction in Cheyenne on June 6. Half of that amount will go to the state.
