  • 06/09/2006 -- Statoil has two Tampen area oil strikes
    Statoil ASA, operator of Production License 050, reported two oil discoveries in the Tampen area of the North Sea.
  • 06/07/2006 -- Cretaceous gas-condensate gauged off India
    Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. and GeoGlobal Resources Inc., Calgary, plan to appraise an Upper Cretaceous gas-condensate discovery on Block KG-OSN-2001/3 in shallow water of the Krishna-Godavari basin off Kakinada.
  • 06/07/2006 -- BG Group signs contracts for blocks off China
    CNOOC Ltd. signed two production-sharing contracts with BG Group for deepwater Blocks 64/11 and 53/16 in the western South China Sea. The agreements remain subject to final government approval.

    National Iranian Oil Co. plans to sign contracts shortly with China's Sinopec on the Khorramabad exploration block and with Norsk Hydro ASA on the Garmsar block, press reports indicated.
  • 06/07/2006 -- Pagoreni development drilling starts in Peru
    The consortium that operates Peru's giant Camisea gas-condensate project is reported to have begun drilling the first of six production wells in Pagoreni gas-condensate field on nearby Block 56.
  • 06/07/2006 -- BLM's Wyoming lease sale draws $4.4 million
    The US Bureau of Land Management's Wyoming office received $4.3 million in bids for leasing rights and rental fees at its latest bimonthly oil and gas lease auction in Cheyenne on June 6. Half of that amount will go to the state.

    Taghmen Energy PLC, London, reentered the 1XA well on the 6-93 license in late May 2006 and kicked off at 5,810 ft. Planned drilling time is 35 days to 10,000 ft.
  • 06/07/2006 -- Brazil's eighth bid round advanced to August
    Brazil's National Council for Energy Policies (CNPE) at a recent meeting advanced the National Petroleum Agency's (ANP) eighth round of exploration and production bids to Aug. 28 from the previously scheduled Nov. 27-29.
  • 06/06/2006 -- Antrim reports Tierra del Fuego discovery
    Antrim Energy Inc., Calgary, reported an oil discovery in the Las Violetas (LV)-105 exploratory well drilled in the Magallanes basin on Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
  • 06/06/2006 -- New gas flow planned in northern Italy
    Po Valley Energy Ltd, Perth, has applied for a production license for its gas fields in northern Italy.
  • 06/05/2006 -- Total has oil strike on block off Cameroon
    Total E&P Cameroon has struck oil with the first exploration well drilled on the Dissoni Block in the Rio del Rey basin off Cameroon.
  • 06/02/2006 -- Mputa appraisal in Uganda cased, suspended
    The Mputa-2 appraisal well on Block 2 in Uganda has been cased and suspended as a potential oil producer, reported Tullow Oil PLC, London, a 50-50 partner with block operator Hardman Resources Ltd.
  • 06/01/2006 -- Ras al Khaimah field development study set
    The government awarded a concession to Indago Petroleum Ltd., Dubai, that could lead to development of RAK B (Baih) oil and gas field in the Persian Gulf.
  • 06/01/2006 -- RWE Dea spuds exploration well in Libya
    RWE Dea AG has began drilling exploration well A1-NC 193, the first in a multiwell program planned in Concession NC 193 in the Sirte basin 500 km southeast of Tripoli, Libya.
  • 06/01/2006 -- East Timor awards six offshore permits
    East Timor has offered six offshore petroleum exploration permits in its inaugural bidding round.
  • 06/01/2006 -- PNOC picks Malaysian firm for Camago oil
    PNOC Exploration Corp. chose private Mitra Energy Ltd., Kuala Lumpur, to negotiate for joint development with PNOC of the Camago oil leg at Malampaya gas-condensate field west of Palawan Island, the Philippines.

    Talisman Energy Inc.'s local subsidiary has spudded a second well on the onshore Eastern Block in Trinidad and Tobago after its first well on the block failed to discover commercial hydrocarbons.

    Maersk Oil Qatar AS has let a turnkey contract to National Petroleum Construction Co. (NPC), Abu Dhabi, for supply of facilities involved in the follow-on development of Al Shaheen oil and gas field on Block 5 off Qatar.

    Focus Energy Ltd., formerly Phoenix Overseas Ltd., reported a gas discovery on pre-NELP Block RJ-ON/6 in westernmost Rajasthan near the border with Pakistan.
  • 05/26/2006 -- Iran warns Japanese firms on Azadegan delays
