    Shell Malaysia said it delivered natural gas from E8 field off Sarawak, Malaysia. Production started July 24 and is stabilizing toward a target flow of 600 MMscfd.
  • 08/10/2006 -- Tierra del Fuego yields another discovery
    Antrim Energy Inc., Calgary, expects further drilling around the Los Patos 1005 new-field discovery in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
  • 08/09/2006 -- CNOOC, Husky to explore in South China Sea
    China National Offshore Oil Corp. has signed production-sharing contracts with Husky Oil China Ltd. to explore in the South China Sea.
  • 08/08/2006 -- Total to acquire interest in block near Java
    Total SA has signed an agreement with Indonesia's PT Easco East Sepanjang to farm into offshore East Sepanjang Block, northeast of Java, with a 49% working interest.
  • 08/07/2006 -- Canadian independent eyes Piceance, Uinta
    Brownstone Ventures Inc., Toronto, said its US unit completed the purchase of interests in 267 oil and gas leases in the Piceance basin of Colorado and Utah and the Overthrust Belt of Utah for $6.77 million cash plus 2.6 million common shares issued to private Retamco Operating Inc., Billings, Mont.
  • 08/07/2006 -- Total Indonesie seeks Mahakam block extension
    Total E&P Indonesie is seeking an extension for its contract for the Mahakam oil and natural gas block in East Kalimantan, scheduled to end in 2017. The block holds 13 tcf of gas reserves.
  • 08/04/2006 -- Nexen encounters gas pay with Ringo prospect
    Nexen Inc., Calgary, said the Ringo prospect on Mississippi Canyon Block 546 encountered 150 ft of net gas pay. The well, in 2,500 ft of water, was drilled to 12,808 ft.
  • 08/04/2006 -- Talisman, East Resources score in New York
    Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, said its Fortuna Energy Inc. unit is evaluating further drilling near two strong gas completions in western New York.
  • 08/03/2006 -- Sonangol, Tullow to explore block off Angola
    Tullow Oil PLC was awarded a 50% interest in Block 1/06 off Angola, and the UK company expects to enter into a production-sharing contract in August with state-owned Sonangol.
  • 08/03/2006 -- Tag starts up Taranaki well, sidetrack
    Tag Oil Ltd., Vancouver, BC, has started production from the Cheal-4 well in Cheal oil field and begun exploratory sidetrack work in the watered-out Radnor-1 well on a separate permit in New Zealand. Both wells are in the onshore Taranaki basin.

  • 07/28/2006 -- Total unit buys stake in licenses off Nigeria
    Total unit Elf Petroleum Nigeria signed a farm-in agreement with Amni International Petroleum Development for a 40% participating interest in two licenses off southeast Nigeria.

    Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has set the country's eighth exploration licensing round for Nov. 28 in Rio de Janeiro, ANP said July 26.
  • 07/27/2006 -- JV mulls Douglas prospect development options
    Austral Pacific Energy Ltd. and Rift Oil PLC plan to conduct a feasibility study to assess commercialization options for its recent gas discovery on the Douglas prospect in the PPL 235 area of Papua New Guinea.
  • 07/26/2006 -- Total makes oil find in Libya
    Total SA has discovered oil on Block NC 191 in the Murzuq basin in southwestern Libya, 800 km south of Tripoli. This is the first discovery on the block.
  • 07/26/2006 -- Western Cooper basin oil play taking hold
    Stuart Petroleum Ltd., Adelaide, spudded the Light Fingers-1 wildcat on PEL 113 about 2.8 km west of its high-flowing 2006 Toparoa oil discovery scheduled to begin producing later this year.
  • 07/25/2006 -- Girouxville, Alta., gets light oil discovery
    Breaker Energy Ltd., Calgary, said an exploratory well near Girouxville, Alta., has 400,000 to more than 1 million bbl of recoverable oil and the thickest light oil sand pay yet encountered in the area.
