  • 10/11/2006 -- Tullow, Hardman to explore Ugandan Block 2
    The Ugandan government, Hardman Resources Ltd., and Tullow Oil PLC have agreed under a new memorandum of understanding to progress the appraisal and development activities for Block 2 on the Ugandan side of the Albertine Graben.
  • 10/11/2006 -- Premier to commercialize Dua field in Vietnam
    Premier Oil PLC, London, will move to commercialize its Dua oil and gas field off Vietnam after learning that the oil and gas flow rates for the Dua-5X well on Block 12E were better than expected.
  • 10/10/2006 -- Firms start exploration south of Mobile Bay
    Private Corpus Christi, Tex., independent Royal Exploration Co. and Petsec Energy Ltd., Lafayette, are starting a two or three-well program for gas in Gulf of Mexico federal waters south of Mobile Bay.

    Heritage Oil Corp., London, has temporarily suspended drilling at its Kingfisher-1 exploration well on Block 3A in Uganda in preparation for a testing program.

    Hoan Vu Joint Operating Co., operator of Block 9-2 in the Cuu Long basin off Vietnam, plans development drilling starting in the second quarter 2007 based upon recent test results from an appraisal well.

    EnCore Oil PLC and Island Oil & Gas PLC, London, plan to jointly develop their exploration and near-development portfolios in Ireland and the UK.
  • 10/06/2006 -- Petrobras-led group encouraged by oil find off Brazil
    A group led by Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) agreed to accelerate its exploration program based on results from a light oil discovery on Block BM-S-11 in a frontier section of the Santos basin 150 km off Rio de Janeiro, said partner BG Group PLC.
  • 10/06/2006 -- Inpex agrees to cut Azadegan field ownership
    Japan's Inpex Corp. has agreed to reduce to 10% its concession in Iran's Azadegan oil field from the current 75%, with the outstanding 65% stake to be transferred to National Iranian Oil Co.
  • 10/06/2006 -- Repsol YPF, Gazprom to jointly seek global projects
    Repsol YPF and Gazprom signed an MOU to study possible joint gas and oil development projects in Europe, Latin America, and Africa along with LNG projects using resources from Russia.
  • 10/05/2006 -- Aramco to start work on Manifa oil field
    Saudi Aramco will start development of offshore Manifa oil and gas field in the first quarter of 2007 with a production target of 900,000 b/d of Arab Heavy crude.
  • 10/03/2006 -- Max Petroleum completes second Kazakh well
    Max Petroleum PLC, London, has completed and begun production from the ZMA-2X well, the second of five wells planned on the Zhana Makat A structure on the E Block in the Pre-Caspian basin of Kazakhstan.
  • 10/03/2006 -- Antrim to get interest in UK North Sea block
    Antrim Energy Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire a 75% working interest in Block 21/28a in the Central North Sea from Eni SPA. The block contains the Fyne and Dandy oil fields, which have been delineated with eight wells drilled in 1971-98.
  • 10/02/2006 -- Total-led group tests Yemeni oil well
    A group led by Total SA reported the KHA 1-16 oil well in Yemen's East Shabwa Development Area on Block 10 produced more than 8,400 b/d when tested through a 70/64-in. choke, said participant SOCO International PLC, London.
  • 10/02/2006 -- Iran, Inpex continue Azadegan oil field negotiations
    Iran and Inpex Corp. of Japan are continuing negotiations over development of Azadegan oil field despite missing a Sept. 30 deadline to come to an agreement or end talks, according to state media.
  • 09/29/2006 -- France field development brisk; exploration slow
    With oil prices high, field development and production in France remain brisk this year as new wells were drilled in old fields to optimize production. Outlays should be in line with the €78 million announced at the start of 2006.

    A new core area for future appraisal and potential development is emerging in the central part of Menzel Ledjmet Block 405b in eastern Algeria's Berkine basin, said operator First Calgary Petroleums Ltd., Calgary.

    Some international oil company executives have voiced concerns about Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) excluding the Campos basin and parts of the Santos basin from the country's Nov. 28 licensing round.

    Missouri Basin Well Service Inc., Belfield, ND, is moving in a rig to reenter the State 16-1H well in McKenzie County and drill two horizontal legs in Rival, the uppermost member of the Mission Canyon formation of the Mississippian Madison Group.
  • 09/27/2006 -- Petronas wins Lampung II Block off Indonesia
    Indonesia has awarded its offshore Lampung II Block to Malaysia's Petronas. The 4,168 sq km parcel is 150 km east of Sumatra's southeastern coast.
