  • 02/21/2006 -- Oxy, BP study CO2 injection in California
    Occidental Petroleum Corp. and BP PLC are discussing options for injecting carbon dioxide captured at a power plant into Oxy's mature California oil fields for enhanced recovery and sequestration.
  • 02/17/2006 -- US drilling continues to grow
    US drilling continued to expand with 1,545 rotary rigs working, 13 more than the previous week and up from 1,295 a year ago, Baker Hughes reported Feb. 17.
  • 02/17/2006 -- Petrobras starts Golfinho test production
    Brazil's state-owned Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) reported that the Seillean floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has begun operations in Golfinho field in the Espírito Santo basin. Production from the field, which is in a test phase to evaluate reservoir behavior, is currently 21,000 b/d of oil.

    US drilling continued to explore new 20-year highs with 1,532 rotary rigs working, 19 more than the previous week and up from 1,280 during the same period last year, Baker Hughes Inc. reported Feb. 10.

    Statoil ASA has signed a 2.35 billion kroner ($350 million) draft deal with Odfjell Drilling AS for drilling by the Deepsea Bergen semisubmersible in the Halten-Nordland area of the Norwegian Sea.

    Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said its gross production from the Haley area of West Texas averaged 121 MMcfd of gas equivalent in the last quarter of 2005.
  • 02/09/2006 -- Crescent lets contract for two Mubarek wells
    Crescent Petroleum Co. Inc. has let a contract to Indonesian drilling company PT Apexindo Pratama Duta to drill two wells in Mubarek oil and gas field off Sharjah.
  • 02/07/2006 -- BHP Billiton lets O&M contract for Neptune
    BHP Billiton Petroleum (Americans) Inc. let a $4 million contract to John Wood Group PLC to develop a maintenance management system, operating manuals, and start-up procedures for the deepwater Neptune project on Atwater Valley Block 618 in the Gulf of Mexico (OGJ, Apr. 26, 2004, Newsletter).

    US drilling activity hit the highest level in 20 years with 1,513 rotary rigs working this week. That's 26 more than the previous week and up from 1,248 at this time last year, said Baker Hughes Inc.

    Statoil ASA and partners plan to invest 1.2 billion kroner ($180 million) to improve oil and gas recovery from Vigdis field in the Norwegian North Sea.

    Fort Hills Energy Corp. plans to build an oil sands upgrading facility on 1,800 hectares in Sturgeon County, 40 km northeast of Edmonton, Alta.
