WIC proposes added pipeline capacity for Uinta basin

By OGJ editors
HOUSTON, Nov. 10 -- El Paso Corp. subsidiary Wyoming Interstate Co. (WIC) proposed a pipeline that will provide 250-350 MMcfd of additional natural gas transportation capacity to handle increasing production from eastern Utah's Uinta basin.

The Uinta Basin Expansion Project will add 128 miles of 20- or 24-in. pipeline from processing facilities near Colorado Interstate Gas's (CIG) Natural Buttes Plant in Uintah County, Utah, to Kanda, an interconnection point for the Overthrust Pipeline and WIC in Sweetwater County, Wyo.

The new pipeline will also provide interconnects with Northwest, Questar, Questar's Clay Basin Storage, and CIG. In addition, WIC will expand its mainline system from Kanda, east to Wamsutter, Wyoming, to handle additional volumes.

WIC is holding a binding open season until Nov. 30 for the Uinta Basin Expansion Project to determine final capacity. Kerr-McGee Corp. has signed an agreement for firm transportation to secure the project.

The expected in-service date is January 2008.
