Serica Energy appoints Ellis as chief executive officer

Toronto-based Serica Energy Corp. has appointed Paul Ellis as chief executive officer. The appointment becomes effective Sept. 1.

HOUSTON, July 20 -- Toronto-based Serica Energy Corp. has appointed Paul Ellis as chief executive officer. The appointment becomes effective Sept. 1. Serica is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with primary activities in Indonesia, the UK North Sea, and Spain.

Ellis joins Serica with more than 35 years experience in E&P, development, and management of international oil and gas ventures. He has held senior appointments with major upstream oil and gas companies and with independent exploration companies.

Prior to his appointment, Ellis served as chief operating officer of Emerald Energy PLC, a UK-based company active in Colombia.

Ellis started his career as a petroleum reservoir engineer with BP PLC. Since then he has held positions as a director or officer of a number of public firms including Charterhouse Petroleum PLC, British Gas, and EnCana Corp. predecessor PanCanadian Petroleum Ltd.
