Lukoil's Stavrolen plans polypropylene plant

HOUSTON, July 20 -- Stavrolen, a unit of Lukoil-Neftekhim, plans to build a 120,000-tonne/year polypropylene plant at Budennovsk, Russia. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2006.

Stavrolen will use Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology Corp.'s Unipol polypropylene technology.

Total project investment is estimated at more than $70 million.
