BP to add hydrotreater at Whiting refinery

HOUSTON, Apr. 21 -- BP PLC plans to invest more than $130 million to add a 36,000-b/d distillate hydrotreater at its 399,000-b/cd refinery in Whiting, Ind.

BP has begun preliminary work on the project and expects to complete construction in mid-2006. The unit will be used for production of ultralow-sulfur diesel.
