    Independent tanker company Euronav NV, Antwerp, has entered into an agreement with Metrostar Management Group of Greece to purchase four very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for a total of $477.5 million.
  • 03/04/2005 -- South Hook lets contract for LNG terminal
    South Hook LNG Terminal Co. let a turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. NV (CB&I) for Phase II construction of an LNG import terminal near Milford Haven, Wales.
  • 03/03/2005 -- Peru LNG signs deal for Camisea gas
    Peru LNG SRL—owned by Hunt Oil Co., Dallas, and SK Corp. of South Korea—has signed agreements to purchase 620 MMcfd of natural gas over 18 years from the Greater Camisea fields consortium in Peru.
  • 03/03/2005 -- Panyu/Huizhou pipelay contract let
    China National Offshore Oil let a $125-million contract to GIL Mauritius Holdings, a Global Industries Ltd. subsidiary, to install 338 km of 20-in. diameter pipeline and 1.8 km of 12-in. pipeline for the Panyu/Huizhou Gas Development Project.
  • 03/01/2005 -- RasGas (II), Distrigas ink LNG supply deal
    RasGas (II) has signed an agreement to supply Distrigas SA, Brussels, with 2.05 million tonnes/year of LNG—equivalent to 2.75 billion cu m/year of natural gas—at the Zeebrugge, Belgium, LNG terminal for 20 years.

    Woodside Energy Ltd., Perth, operator of the North West Shelf Venture, has signed a letter of intent with Foster Wheeler WA Pty. Ltd. and WorleyParsons Services Pty. Ltd. for engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPC) of the venture's proposed LNG Phase V project (OGJ, Jan. 24, 2005, Newsletter).
  • 03/01/2005 -- Qatar, Shell sign LNG agreement
    Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Royal Dutch/Shell signed a heads of agreement (HOA) to develop a large-scale LNG project in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
  • 02/28/2005 -- Atlantic LNG debottlenecking under way
    The partners of Atlantic LNG Co. of Trinidad & Tobago Ltd. expect to produce as much additional LNG as would be produced by a small LNG train when they debottleneck the existing three trains, according to BG Group PLC, the second largest Atlantic LNG shareholder.

    Gassco AS, operator of Norway's gas transport systems, said gas volumes from the Halten-Nordland area of the Norwegian Sea are insufficient to warrant laying a pipeline from that area to the Tampen area.

    Tractebel LNG Trading SA, London, has signed a heads of agreement with Yemen LNG Co. to purchase 2.5 million tonnes/year of LNG for 20 years.

    Sempra Energy unit Sempra LNG, San Diego, Calif., has awarded a $500 million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to BMVT consortium led by Black & Veatch Corp., Kansas City, Mo., for Sempra's Energia Costa Azul LNG receiving terminal 14 miles north of Ensenada, Mex.
