  • 11/29/2005 -- Indonesia might intervene in Cepu Block talks
    The Indonesian government said it will intervene in talks between ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. and Indonesian state-run oil and gas firm PT Pertamina if the two sides reach no agreement over operation of the Cepu Block in east-central Java by the end of next month.
  • 11/29/2005 -- BHP Billiton to develop field off Australia
    BHP Billiton Ltd. and equal joint venture partner Woodside Energy Ltd. have approved the $600 million development of Stybarrow oil field in the WA-255-P(2) permit 65 km off Western Australia (see map, OGJ, Aug. 4, 2003, Newsletter).
  • 11/29/2005 -- Syntroleum due stake in oil find off Nigeria
    Syntroleum Corp., Tulsa., signed an agreement with the Nigerian oil and gas company Britania-U Nigeria Ltd. to acquire 40% interest in an oil discovery on Oil Mining Lease 90 off Nigeria.

    Bow Valley Energy Ltd., Calgary, has received UK government approval to develop Chestnut oil field on Block 22/2a in the central UK North Sea.
  • 11/28/2005 -- Norway okays Ringhorne Øst oil development
    Norwegian authorities approved the development and operating plan for Ringhorne Øst oil field on Block 25/8 in the North Sea, 180 km west of Karmøy, development operator ExxonMobil E&P Norway said Nov. 25.

    The US Minerals Management Service has issued a proposed notice for Central Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf Lease Sale 198 scheduled Mar. 15, 2006.

    BHP Billiton will increase gas plant capacity by 50% to a total of 450 MMcfd in the second phase of development of Zamzama gas field in Pakistan.

    Po Valley Energy Ltd., Sydney, has increased its drilling in northern Italy. The company spudded the Sillaro-1 deviated appraisal-development well about 25 km east of Bologna.

  • 11/23/2005 -- McMoRan tests gulf shelf gas-condensate wells
    McMoRan Exploration Co., New Orleans independent temporarily based in Baton Rouge since the 2005 hurricanes, hopes to start production in early 2006 from its latest deep shelf gas-condensate discovery in the Gulf of Mexico.

    Vintage Petroleum Inc. has tested 43° gravity oil from the subsalt Jurassic Upper Lam B formation in An Nagyah oil field in Yemen.
  • 11/21/2005 -- Calvalley completes Hiswah-7 development well in Yemen
    Calvalley Petroleum Inc., operator of Malik Block 9 in Yemen, reported the completion of its fifth horizontal development well in the Sayun-Masila basin in Hiswah oil field in Yemen.
  • 11/21/2005 -- Venezuela to offer licenses off east coast
    Venezuela plans to offer a series of new offshore exploration and production licenses next year in the Gulf of Paria and Plataforma Deltana, said Minister of Petroleum and Mines Rafael Ramirez.
  • 11/21/2005 -- Petrobras pushes Mexico for gulf E&P permits
    Brazil's state-owned Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) said it has agreed to share its US Gulf of Mexico deepwater exploration and production expertise with Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) if Mexico will change its laws to permit foreign companies to operate in its sector of the gulf.

    Venezuela, in the second round of bidding in its vast Rafael Urdaneta natural gas project, has awarded exploration licenses to four foreign firms and a domestic company, Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez said Nov. 15.
