  • 06/16/2005 -- Apache completes gas well off Australia
    Apache Corp. reported completion of the Rose-4 development well, part of the Harriet Joint Venture acreage 8 km east of Varanus Island off Western Australia.
  • 06/21/2005 -- Stone starts dual horizontal Williston well
    Stone Energy Corp., Lafayette, La., has placed on production its Bonnie 1-5H well, a dual horizontal well completed in two open-hole laterals in the Mississippian Bakken formation in Richland County, Mont.
  • 06/22/2005 -- Development due for small oil field off UK
    Venture Production (North Sea Developments) Ltd. signed a letter of intent with Sevan Marine ASA for use of the cylinder-shaped floating production unit SSP 300 (Sevan stabilized platform) for development of Chestnut oil field in the central UK North Sea.
  • 06/28/2005 -- More operators join Williston basin Bakken oil hunt
    Exploration for oil and natural gas in the Mississippian Middle Bakken formation in the Williston basin is drawing more operators.
  • 06/15/2005 -- Perenco grows in Turkey, Egypt; departs US
    Perenco, a private Paris-based independent, acquired exploration and development projects in Turkey and Egypt and sold its interests in the US.
  • 07/01/2005 -- Devon, SK Corp. report Brazilian oil development plans
    Devon Energy Corp. said it plans to proceed with development of Block BM-C-8, which lies in the Campos basin off Rio de Janeiro in about 300 ft of water.
  • 07/06/2005 -- Murphy has two discoveries off Malaysia
    Murphy Oil Corp. has discovered oil and gas in an exploratory well off Sarawak and oil in a well off Sabah.
  • 07/11/2005 -- Development of Enoch oil field approved
    Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. reported approval from the UK and Norwegian governments for development of Enoch oil field on UK North Sea Block 16/13a and Norwegian Block 15/5.
  • 07/14/2005 -- ERHC, Pioneer to explore blocks off West Africa
    Texas companies ERHC Energy Inc., Houston, and Pioneer Natural Resources Inc., Irving, said they would proceed with exploration in the Gulf of Guinea off West Africa despite the withdrawal of Devon Energy Corp. from two consortia that won bids for the properties.
  • 07/20/2005 -- Kerr-McGee China group starts two more Bohai fields
    A group led by operator Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd. started production from CFD 11-3 and 11-5 oil fields in western Bohai Gulf earlier this month.
  • 07/22/2005 -- Underbalanced, horizontal well tests gas
    Initial test results are reported to be "strongly positive" for the first underbalanced, horizontal gas well in the Sacramento basin of northern California. The well, McCormack 9, is on the west flank of Rio Vista field.

    Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and Medco Energi International, Indonesia's largest independent exploration and production company, have formed a joint venture through which Anadarko can greatly increase its exploration acreage in Indonesia.
  • 08/05/2005 -- Indonesia awards nine blocks in bid round
    Indonesia awarded nine oil and gas production-sharing contracts—eight for exploration and one for production—out of 13 blocks offered in the latest bidding round.
  • 08/08/2005 -- CNPC prepares for drilling in Niger rift
    China National Petroleum Corp.'s affiliate in Niger will hold a technical meeting in the fourth quarter to review seismic data and choose drillsites for the 17.3 million acre Tenere Block in the Termit-Tenere rift basin.
  • 08/11/2005 -- BP reports eighth Block 31 strike off Angola
    BP PLC and partners reported an oil discovery in the Astraea-1 well on Block 31 off Angola, the company's eighth discovery on the block.
  • 08/19/2005 -- Anadarko, Chevron to drill Gulf of Mexico wells
    Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and Chevron Corp. have signed an agreement to jointly participate in drilling four deepwater Gulf of Mexico prospects. Chevron will operate all four wells.
  • 08/23/2005 -- Indonesia seeks Cepu field clarification
    Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro will ask state oil and gas company Pertamina and ExxonMobil Corp. to clarify their respective stakes in Cepu oil field of east-central Java.
  • 08/24/2005 -- UK approves Cavendish gas field development
    The UK Department of Trade & Industry agreed to the development plan for Cavendish natural gas field in the UK North Sea's Southern Gas basin.
  • 09/08/2005 -- Total taps FMC for subsea systems off Congo
    Total SA let a $115 million contract to FMC Technologies Inc., Houston, for supply of subsea systems for Moho Bilondo field off Congo-Brazzaville. The field, just north of the Angolan border, lies 80 km offshore in 540-740 m of water.
  • 09/20/2005 -- Chevron, Gazprom win blocks off Venezuela
    The Venezuelan Ministry of Energy and Mines has awarded licenses to local units of Chevron Corp. and OAO Gazprom for offshore exploration. The tracts are three of seven licenses offered in Venezuela's Stage A Rafael Urdaneta natural gas bid round in August.
