  • 12/12/2005 -- New Brunswick field due link to M&NE gas line
    The McCully gas field, where six wells underwent a battery of nine frac jobs in October and November, is now sufficiently productive to justify a connection to the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline system to New England, said the operator, Corridor Resources Inc., Halifax.
  • 12/12/2005 -- ExxonMobil cites June accord in Cepu flap
    ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. will fight state-owned PT Pertamina for operatorship of the Cepu Block, according to Pres.-Director Peter J. Coleman, who cited a memorandum of understanding signed in June.
  • 12/12/2005 -- Seismic survey starts on Hassi Mouina block
    A seismic survey is under way on the Hassi Mouina gas block in Algeria, reported Statoil ASA, the operator. Plans call for a wildcat to be spudded during 2006.
  • 12/12/2005 -- Far East to spud second Chinese CBM well
    Far East Energy Corp. this month plans to spud its second coalbed methane (CBM) horizontal well on the Shouyang Block in Shanxi Province, China.
  • 12/09/2005 -- BG Group signs EPSAs for areas in Libya
    BG Group PLC has signed three exploration and production-sharing agreements (EPSAs) for onshore Libyan Blocks 123 (1) and 123 (2), in the Sirte basin and onshore Area 171 (Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4), in the Kufra basin (see map, OGJ, Oct. 24, 2005, p. 42).

    Exploration in a Pennsylvanian Bend shale gas play may soon pick up in the lightly explored Palo Duro basin as operators reach readiness to drill acreage holdings, some of them quite large.

    Petrolifera Petroleum Ltd., a private Calgary independent, is producing oil from two formations at an apparently substantial discovery in Argentina's Neuquen basin.

    Devon Energy Corp. has signed a production-sharing contract with China National Offshore Oil Corp. for South China Sea deepwater Block 42/05, subject to Chinese government approval.
  • 12/06/2005 -- Yemen Mayfair to plug Beta-1 test in Yemen
    Oracle Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, said it has been notified by operator Yemen Mayfair Petroleum Corp. (YMPC) that a drillstem test of the Beta-1 well on Block 22 in Yemen was concluded Dec. 4 with no hydrocarbons recovered.

    Malaysia's Petronas said development is possible of the Kanowit-1 natural gas discovery on Block SK306 off Sarawak.

    ExxonMobil Libya Ltd. has signed an exploration and production-sharing agreement (EPSA) with Libya's National Oil Corp. for the large offshore Cyrenaica basin Contract Area 44.
  • 12/06/2005 -- Well off Mauritania encounters hydrocarbons
    Dana Petroleum PLC unit Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. reported that its Faucon-1 exploration well, being drilled on Block 1 off Mauritania, has encountered hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone in the main Cretaceous target horizon.

    Pemex Exploracion y Produccion has let contract to Saipem SPA for offshore transport and installation of six platforms in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) fields development project in the Bay of Campeche, 105 km northwest of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico.

    Ukraine's national oil company Naftogaz Ukrainy and Shell Exploration & Production Co. signed a cooperation agreement covering deep exploration in the Dniepr-Donets basin.

    DNO ASA, Oslo, has spudded a well in far northern Iraq under production sharing agreements signed with the Kurdistan regional government in June 2004.
