    Reliance Industries Ltd., Mumbai, acquired exploration rights to one of the largest deepwater blocks in Oman, signing an exploration and production sharing agreement (PSA) on Mar. 12.
  • 03/14/2005 -- ONGC has second deepwater gas find off India
    India's state Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. is testing a second deepwater gas discovery in the Krishna-Godavari basin.
  • 03/11/2005 -- Statoil increases investment estimate for Kristin
    Statoil ASA has increased its investment estimate for the Kristin project in the Norwegian Sea by 1.4 billion kroner to 20.8 billion kroner.
  • 03/10/2005 -- EnerGulf gets stake in block off Namibia
    EnerGulf Resources Inc., Vancouver, BC, and National Petroleum Corp. of Namibia (Namcor) has entered into a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) to jointly explore, develop, and produce oil and gas in nonproducing Namibia, specifically on Block 1711, and for gas-to-liquids and related opportunities.

    The Dewan Mushtaq Group of Pakistan tested a gas and condensate discovery at the Rodho-3 reentry on the 1,213-sq-km Safed Koh block in the Middle Indus basin.

    Melrose Resources PLC, London, will seek partners to explore the 25,000-sq-km Rhone Maritime exploration permit in the Mediterranean off southeastern France.

    Ocean Energy Nigeria Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Devon Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has farmed out a 12.5% interest in OPL Block 256 to Spinnaker Exploration Co., Houston.
  • 03/08/2005 -- ConocoPhillips inks Kebabangan field PSA
    A joint venture of ConocoPhillips (East Malaysia) Ltd. 40% and Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. 60% has signed a production-sharing agreement with Petronas for development of Kebabangan oil field off Sabah, Malaysia.

    China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has approved Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd.'s development of the CFD 11-3 and CFD 11-5 discoveries on Block 04/36 in Bohai Bay, China.

    PetroKazakhstan Inc., Calgary, targeted a 12.5% increase in production to 170,000 b/d in Kazakhstan in 2005 assuming timely receipt of regulatory approvals and the absence of marketing constraints.

    Calgary independents BlackRock Ventures Inc. and Talisman Energy Inc. are acquiring a $2.5 million 3D seismic survey over lands that contain a new heavy oil discovery in Alberta's Peace River area.

    Arc Energy Ltd., Perth, reported a flow of 3.7 MMcfd of gas from Permian Irwin River coal measures at the Corybas-1 exploration well on Production License L2 in the northern Perth basin in Western Australia.

    ChevronTexaco Corp., operator of the 1998 Agbami discovery in deep water off Nigeria, let a contract to Daewoo Shipping and Maritime Engineering Corp. for a 7-billion-kroner production and storage ship to be used in the field's development.

    Pakistan executed production-sharing agreements Feb. 25 with Eni Pakistan Ltd. for two offshore blocks in the Indus Delta: Block No. 2366-4 (Offshore Indus-M) and Block No. 2366-5 (Offshore Indus-N)—each covering 2,500 sq km.
