  • 05/17/2005 -- Slave Point gas discoveries fuel Northeast BC
    Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Houston, and Purcell Energy Ltd., Calgary, plan more drilling next winter in Northeast British Columbia where they started production from three Devonian Slave Point gas discoveries drilled in the first quarter.

    Chinese National Petroleum Co. (CNPC) plans to invest $600 million in oil and gas development in Uzbekistan, according to a senior manager of state-owned Uzbekneftegaz.

    Two Questar Corp. subsidiaries have signed agreements with the Ute Indian tribe for gas projects on tribal lands in the Uinta basin of northeastern Utah.

    Egypt and BP Egypt have signed extensions of two Gulf of Suez concessions in effect since the 1960s.

    Serica Energy Corp., Toronto, has signed a contract with Indonesian agent PT Lins Petrotama Energi for the use of Northern Offshore Ltd.'s Galaxy Driller semisubmersible for a two-well drilling program off North Sumatra. The $5.7 million contract includes drilling and ancillary services.

    Paladin Resources PLC subsidiary Paladin Expro Ltd., London, and Energy North Sea Ltd, a Marubeni Corp. subsidiary, received approval to develop Wood oil field in the UK North Sea.
  • 05/09/2005 -- PTTEP acquires block south of Tehran
    Thailand's state-controlled PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) secured a 25-year license from National Iranian Oil Co. for the Saveh Block, which covers 13,500 sq km south of Tehran.

    Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, said its production in the US Appalachian basin averaged 120 MMcfd in the fourth quarter of 2004, up 18% on the quarter and 132% of fourth quarter 2003 output.

    Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC) has approved the start by Total SA of development of Akpo gas and condensate field on OML 130 in 1,100-1,700 m of water, 200 km off Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

    Kappa Resources Colombia Ltd., a private Calgary company, has completed a farmout agreement that allows UK-based Black Rock Oil & Gas PLC to participate and earn an interest in Kappa's 249,000-acre Las Quinchas Association Contract in the Middle Magdalena Valley of Colombia.
