  • 05/12/2005 -- Egypt extends BP Suez Gulf concessions
    Egypt and BP Egypt have signed extensions of two Gulf of Suez concessions in effect since the 1960s.
  • 05/11/2005 -- Rig contract signed for two Sumatra wells
    Serica Energy Corp., Toronto, has signed a contract with Indonesian agent PT Lins Petrotama Energi for the use of Northern Offshore Ltd.'s Galaxy Driller semisubmersible for a two-well drilling program off North Sumatra. The $5.7 million contract includes drilling and ancillary services.

    Paladin Resources PLC subsidiary Paladin Expro Ltd., London, and Energy North Sea Ltd, a Marubeni Corp. subsidiary, received approval to develop Wood oil field in the UK North Sea.
  • 05/09/2005 -- PTTEP acquires block south of Tehran
    Thailand's state-controlled PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) secured a 25-year license from National Iranian Oil Co. for the Saveh Block, which covers 13,500 sq km south of Tehran.
  • 05/09/2005 -- Talisman adds Trenton-Black River gas in New York
    Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, said its production in the US Appalachian basin averaged 120 MMcfd in the fourth quarter of 2004, up 18% on the quarter and 132% of fourth quarter 2003 output.
  • 05/03/2005 -- Leads abound from south, east Falklands seismic
    Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd., London, said it gained encouragement from 9,450 line-km of 2D seismic data it acquired in the South and East Falkland basins.
  • 05/03/2005 -- Total to develop Akpo field off Nigeria
    Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC) has approved the start by Total SA of development of Akpo gas and condensate field on OML 130 in 1,100-1,700 m of water, 200 km off Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
  • 05/03/2005 -- Work due on Colombian block under farmout
    Kappa Resources Colombia Ltd., a private Calgary company, has completed a farmout agreement that allows UK-based Black Rock Oil & Gas PLC to participate and earn an interest in Kappa's 249,000-acre Las Quinchas Association Contract in the Middle Magdalena Valley of Colombia.

    Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) has distributed bid data for Phase I of its planned Rafael Urdaneta natural gas development project in the Gulf of Venezuela and northeastern Falcón state.
  • 04/26/2005 -- PTTEP has two discoveries in Oman
    Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) reported oil and gas discoveries at two exploratory wells drilled on its onshore Block 44 in Oman.
  • 04/22/2005 -- Aramco Du'ayban well finds light oil
    Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) on Apr. 11 discovered light oil in its Du'ayban-1 well in the Central Region about 125 km southeast of Riyadh, reported Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali I. Al-Naimi Apr. 18 in Riyadh.
  • 04/22/2005 -- Woodside lets contract for subsea systems
    Woodside Energy Ltd. has let a $44 million contract to FMC Technologies Inc. for subsea production systems for the Perseus-over-Goodwyn (PoG) project, 81 miles off Western Australia in 426 ft of water.
  • 04/21/2005 -- Petrobras projects to get subsea equipment
    Petrobras has let separate contracts to FMC Technologies Inc. for subsea equipment for Golfinho and Piranema oil fields off Brazil.
  • 04/21/2005 -- Vienna basin gas find one of Austria's largest
    OMV AG said its Austrian subsidiary made a gas discovery in the Vienna basin from which it might recover as much as 140 bcf in 20 years based on current assumptions.
  • 04/19/2005 -- New Brunswick well to test large gas accumulation
    Corridor Resources Inc., Halifax, said it spudded the C-67 well in western McCully field in New Brunswick, which is estimated to contain more than 1 tcf of gas in place in the Hiram Brook member of the Albert formation in the Mississippian Horton Group.
  • 04/15/2005 -- Congo's (Brazzaville) Mboundi reservoir extended
    Maurel & Prom, Paris, operator of Mboundi oil and gas field in Congo (Brazzaville), tested its 1001 stepout well recently drilled in the north-northeast end of the field, which lies on the Kouilou permit 25 km inland from Pointe Indienne on the Atlantic Coast.
  • 04/14/2005 -- Combine tests more gas on Malaysian block
    CS Mutiara Petroleum Sdn. Bhd., a 50-50 joint venture of Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. and Shell Exploration & Production Malaysia BV, has reported a fourth gas discovery on Block PM301 off the northeastern Malaysia peninsula.
  • 04/13/2005 -- Calvalley tests Hiswah oil pool in Yemen
    Calvalley Petroleum Inc., Calgary, tested a horizontal appraisal well that confirms a continuous reservoir over the 7-km-long structure of the Hiswah oil discovery on Block 9 in Yemen.
  • 04/13/2005 -- Sibneft wins license in Western Siberia
    Russia's Sibneft has won development rights for the Salymskiy-5 Block in the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District of Western Siberia.
  • 04/12/2005 -- Woodside pushes Pluto, Browse basin work
    Woodside Energy Ltd. has given high priority to development of its recent Pluto gas discovery in the Carnarvon basin of Western Australia as well as to the older Browse basin discoveries further offshore to the northwest.
