  • 07/26/2005 -- Group to explore two blocks in Yemen
    Oil Search Ltd., Sydney, and partners Voyager Energy Ltd. and Adelphi Energy Ltd., both of Perth, and Kuwaiti company Kufpec (Aden) Ltd. have been awarded Blocks 7 and 74 in Yemen's 2005 international bid round.
  • 07/26/2005 -- Origin has onshore gas find in Perth basin
    Origin Energy Ltd., Sydney, has confirmed a gas find in two zones in its Tarantula-1 wildcat on the onshore Perth basin permit L11 in Western Australia.
  • 07/22/2005 -- Underbalanced, horizontal well tests gas
    Initial test results are reported to be "strongly positive" for the first underbalanced, horizontal gas well in the Sacramento basin of northern California. The well, McCormack 9, is on the west flank of Rio Vista field.
  • 07/22/2005 -- Canada independent to explore Russian Caspian block
    Valkyries Petroleum Corp., Vancouver, BC, acquired a 70% interest in the 494,000 acre Lagansky exploration block in the Caspian Sea, began acquiring 424 km of 2D seismic in mid-July, and expects first drilling in second quarter 2006.
  • 07/22/2005 -- Canadian Superior wins E&P rights off Trinidad
    Trinidad and Tobago and Canadian Superior Energy Inc. have signed a production-sharing contract for Block 5(c) in the Columbus basin 90 km off the east coast of Trinidad.
  • 07/20/2005 -- Operator to join Arkoma Fayetteville shale gas play
    Another operator plans to spud its first well in the Arkoma basin Mississippian Fayetteville shale gas play in September.
  • 07/20/2005 -- Kerr-McGee China group starts two more Bohai fields
    A group led by operator Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd. started production from CFD 11-3 and 11-5 oil fields in western Bohai Gulf earlier this month.
  • 07/18/2005 -- Statoil to develop Tyrihans oil, gas field
    Statoil ASA has submitted a development and operation plan and begun procurement for the subsea development of Tyrihans oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea.
  • 07/18/2005 -- PGS shoots 4C 3D survey in 1,860 m of water
    Petroleum Geo-Services ASA completed a four-component (4C) 3D seismic survey of a 45 sq km area of giant Roncador field in as much as 1,860 m of water off Brazil.

    Saudi Aramco let a front-end engineering and project-management services contract to Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. for full development of Khurais oil field in Saudi Arabia.

    Anzon Australia Ltd., Sydney, operator of the proposed Basker-Manta-Gummy oil and gas field development in the Gippsland basin off Victoria, will spud the Basker-2 appraisal well at the end of this month.
  • 07/15/2005 -- Petro-Canada signs contracts for work off Trinidad and Tobago
    Petro-Canada has signed three production-sharing contracts with Trinidad and Tobago for offshore exploration.
  • 07/14/2005 -- ERHC, Pioneer to explore blocks off West Africa
    Texas companies ERHC Energy Inc., Houston, and Pioneer Natural Resources Inc., Irving, said they would proceed with exploration in the Gulf of Guinea off West Africa despite the withdrawal of Devon Energy Corp. from two consortia that won bids for the properties.

    Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry may grant exploratory drilling rights in the East China Sea to Teikoku Oil Co. as early as this week, a ministry official said July 13.

    White Nile Ltd., a Guernsey, UK, oil and gas exploration company owned 50% by the new government of South Sudan, has reached an exploration agreement with Ethiopia and let a contract for seismic work in South Sudan.
  • 07/11/2005 -- Development of Enoch oil field approved
    Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. reported approval from the UK and Norwegian governments for development of Enoch oil field on UK North Sea Block 16/13a and Norwegian Block 15/5.
  • 07/11/2005 -- Development eyed for gas finds off Malaysia
    CS Mutiara Petroleum Sdn. Bhd. was assessing development options after making its fifth discovery in Block PM301 off the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
  • 07/11/2005 -- Hydro to develop Oseberg Delta gas field
    Norsk Hydro ASA has submitted a development plan for Oseberg Delta gas field in the Norwegian North Sea and awarded a $25 million contract to FMC Kongsberg Subsea AS, a subsidiary of FMC Technologies Inc., to supply the subsea systems.
