    Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary, has restarted its 225,000 b/d oil sands upgrader that was damaged by fire in January.

    Workover operations to restart production from El Bibane field off Tunisia have been unsuccessful, said Candax Energy Inc., Toronto. Operations are being suspended and equipment demobilized.

    Sevan Marine has let a contract to a unit of John Wood Group PLC for the operation and management of the Sevan Stabilized Platform (SSP) Piranema, a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The FPSO will be operated for Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) in Piranema oil field off northeastern Brazil. The 5-year, extendable contract is valued at $7 million/year.

    Enterprise Energy NL, Adelaide, has joined the list of natural gas producers in the Cooper basin of South Australia with the signing of its first sales agreement from the region.

    Husky Energy Inc., Calgary, plans to start production in the fourth quarter from White Rose oil field in the Grand Banks region off Newfoundland and Labrador.

    PetroFalcon Corp., Carpinteria, Calif., said its Vinccler Oil & Gas CA subsidiary is building production and processing facilities capable of handling 20 MMcfd of gas and 5,000 b/d of oil at La Vela field in northern Venezuela's Falcon basin.
