  • 09/21/2005 -- Chinguetti development ahead of schedule
    Development of Chinguetti oil field off Mauritania, where the government recently changed in a bloodless coup, is ahead of schedule but will cost slightly more than earlier estimated, reports operator Woodside Petroleum (Pty.) Ltd.
  • 09/20/2005 -- Victoria Petroleum tests Ventura well
    Victoria Petroleum NL, Perth, began flowing its Ventura-1 oil discovery at 165 b/d in the South Australian Eromanga basin.
  • 09/15/2005 -- Saturn gas field off the UK comes on stream
    Production has started from the first of three wells in Saturn gas field in the UK North Sea, reports RWE DEA UK Ltd.
  • 09/13/2005 -- Contract let for monohull production vessel
    Sevan Marine has let a contract to a unit of John Wood Group PLC for the operation and management of the Sevan Stabilized Platform (SSP) Piranema, a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The FPSO will be operated for Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) in Piranema oil field off northeastern Brazil. The 5-year, extendable contract is valued at $7 million/year.

    Enterprise Energy NL, Adelaide, has joined the list of natural gas producers in the Cooper basin of South Australia with the signing of its first sales agreement from the region.
  • 09/09/2005 -- Petrobras lets contract for umbilicals
    Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has let contracts to Oceaneering Multiflex, a division of Oceaneering International Inc., Houston, to supply 178 km total of umbilicals for Marlin East, Roncador Phase 2, Manati, and Golfinho fields off Brazil.

    ConocoPhillips (UK) Ltd. has awarded a multimillion-pound contract to Wood Group Pressure Control LP, Houston, to supply valves for the topsides of the Britannia Satellites Phase 1 (BritSats) development project on the UK Continental Shelf.

    The US Department of Energy has reported a new method for producing stranded heavy oil that offers an alternative for inhibiting sand and fines production in oil wells and eliminates conventional perforating and gravel packing.

    Swift Energy Co. said its Piakau North A-1 well in northern New Zealand's Taranaki basin flowed on test and is producing up to 7 MMcfd of gas with 400 b/d of condensate on a 28/64-in. choke at 1,420 psi.

    Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) said it soon will conclude the drilling of a deep well in the central-north section of Block BM-S-10 in the Santos basin off Brazil.

    Production from the Chad-Cameroon export project has settled at 180,000 b/d, compared with a project design level of 225,000 b/d, said operator Esso Exploration & Production Chad Inc.

    Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., Calgary, said Baobab oil field in Block CI-40 off the Ivory Coast was brought on stream on Aug. 9 with production of 48,000 b/d.

    Husky Energy Inc., Calgary, plans to start production in the fourth quarter from White Rose oil field in the Grand Banks region off Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • 08/18/2005 -- Facilities under way for Falcon basin gas
    PetroFalcon Corp., Carpinteria, Calif., said its Vinccler Oil & Gas CA subsidiary is building production and processing facilities capable of handling 20 MMcfd of gas and 5,000 b/d of oil at La Vela field in northern Venezuela's Falcon basin.
